Peter ouma
Volunteer
“My name is Peter, and I have proudly volunteered with NALFA C.B.O. since 2025. Joining NALFA has been one of the best decisions I have ever made because it has given me the opportunity to serve my community and bring hope to those in need. One of the most impactful activities I have participated in is the anti-jigger campaign. I have seen children and elderly people suffering from painful jigger infestations receive treatment and walk comfortably again. Seeing someone smile after being relieved from pain reminds me why volunteering is so important. I have also been part of organizing the Ndege Super Cup, where we use sports to unite communities, nurture young talent, and promote peace. The tournament is more than just football it is a platform for community transformation. During the event, we support children with meals, educate the community on health issues, and distribute sanitary pads to schoolgirls to help them stay in school with dignity. Working with NALFA has taught me that real change begins with compassion and service. Every outreach, every treated jigger case, and every young person encouraged through sports is a step towards a healthier and stronger Siaya County. I am proud to be a NALFA C.B.O. volunteer and look forward to continuing this mission of restoring hope, changing lives, and building a better future for our community.”
Faith Akoth
Beneficiary
“My name is Faith, and in 2024 I was a Form Four student. I come from a humble family and was raised by my grandmother, who worked very hard to provide for us. Although she always did her best, there were times when she could not afford basic necessities, including sanitary pads. One day, NALFA C.B.O. visited our school to educate girls and boys about menstrual hygiene. As the session was going on, I unexpectedly started my menstrual period. I became very scared because I had no sanitary pads with me. I worried that my classmates, especially the boys, would notice and I would be embarrassed and laughed at. That day turned out to be one I will never forget. After the education session, NALFA C.B.O. distributed sanitary pads to girls in need. I received enough pads, and they also encouraged us never to be ashamed of menstruation because it is a natural part of life. Their kindness saved me from what could have been a very humiliating experience. Since then, NALFA C.B.O. has continued to support me whenever I need menstrual supplies. I have visited their office several times, and they have always welcomed me with kindness and ensured that I never go without sanitary pads. I am deeply grateful to NALFA C.B.O. for restoring my confidence, protecting my dignity, and helping me stay in school. Their support has shown me that even a simple act of kindness can change someone's life forever. Thank you, NALFA C.B.O., for standing with girls like me and giving us hope for a brighter future.”
