Restoring Dignity: Supporting an Elderly Man Living with Jiggers in Ndere Komollo, Siaya County
By NALFA Administrator27 July 2026Event date: 14 August 2025

At NALFA Community Based Organization (NALFA CBO), we believe that every person deserves to live with dignity and access to compassionate care.
During one of our community outreach programmes in Ndere Komollo Village, Siaya County, our team met an elderly man who was living in difficult conditions and suffering from a severe jigger infestation. The infestation had affected his mobility and overall wellbeing.
Our volunteers treated his jiggers, cleaned and dressed his feet, and offered health education on preventing future infestations. After learning about his situation, kind-hearted well-wishers came together to donate clothes, bedding, and other essential items to improve his living conditions.
The support he received demonstrated the power of community compassion and gave him comfort and dignity during a challenging period of his life.
Sadly, about two months after receiving this assistance, Mzee passed away. Although we mourn his loss, we are grateful that he experienced care, kindness, and hope in his final days.
His story reminds us that fighting jiggers is not only about treating a disease—it is about restoring dignity, showing compassion, and ensuring that no one is forgotten.
NALFA CBO remains committed to reaching vulnerable individuals and families across Siaya County through jigger treatment, health education, and community support. We sincerely thank all the volunteers, donors, and well-wishers who made this outreach possible.
Together, we can restore dignity and transform lives.
